Core Features 3DS BIMcheck

Load IFC models and point cloud scans in one 3D environment. Check the design against the agreed information, against the other aspect models, and against the scan of what is actually standing there — in one affordable, standalone Windows tool. No AutoCAD, no heavy workstation, and nothing is uploaded.

Built on IDS, the buildingSMART open standard — so it works with any national or project ruleset. Dutch BIM basis ILS included.

Load & Federate

Federate multiple IFC models on one shared origin — the first model sets the origin, every aspect model inherits the same offset, so relative positions are right. Add point cloud scans (E57, LAS, PTS, XYZ, ASC) that inherit that origin too, with automatic unit detection between millimetres and metres.

Origin & Georeference Check

Verify the model sits correctly versus 0,0,0 and whether a georeference exists — IfcMapConversion with its projected CRS, or IfcSite latitude and longitude. Dutch RD/NAP coordinates are recognised and converted. Catch a wrong origin before you judge anything else.

IDS Data Validation

Check the delivered information against an IDS file — the buildingSMART Information Delivery Specification, an international open standard. Rules on entity, attribute, property, classification and material are tested object by object, pass or fail, and exported as evidence. The Dutch BIM basis ILS is included as a ready-made ruleset; any national or project ruleset in IDS format works exactly the same way.

Clash Detection (IFC–IFC)

Real geometric intersections between models, tested triangle against triangle — not bounding boxes, so you get the clashes that are actually there. An adjustable tolerance filters the noise, and provisions for voids are recognised so documented penetrations do not clutter the list. Isolate and focus per clash.

Inspect Against the Scan

Load the scan after the model and it inherits the origin. Clash IFC–scan then flags the solids that the point cloud actually touches, with a minimum point count so stray points trigger nothing. A quick way to see which designed objects are really standing there — and to capture hidden work before it is closed up.

Deviation Heatmap & Coverage

The distance between scan and model shown as a millimetre heatmap, so you see where reality and design drift apart. Coverage lists the solids with no scan points at all — an attention list rather than a percentage, because an object may be absent, or simply out of the scanner's sight.

Compare Model Revisions

Put two model versions beside each other and see what changed: objects present in one and absent in the other, and objects that moved further than your tolerance allows. Colour-coded per category, so a new delivery from the supplier takes minutes to assess instead of an afternoon.

Measure, Section & Volume

Measure with snaps to vertices, edge midpoints and scan points, read true IFC coordinates, compute object volume, isolate objects and cut sections with a clip box that applies to models and point clouds alike. SpaceMouse supported.

Report & Export

Document findings in BCF 2.1 with viewpoint, camera and snapshot, written back in true IFC coordinates so they open correctly in any BIM tool. Export clash, scan and IDS results to Excel, or generate a self-contained HTML report with rendered images.
